Infringement cost splits to stay, reports say

The Department of Business Innovation and Skills will reportedly announce on Friday that it will maintain the 75/25 split for costs of infringement notifications between rights holders and ISPs under the Digital Economy Bill, as recommended by the government.

Incursions by Apple and Amazon into streaming movie rentals were described as a “double whammy of digital speculation” by Analyst Eric Wold at New York investment bank Merriman Curhan Ford. But he said it will have little effect on Blu-ray Disc and DVD rentals for the foreseeable future.
