UK cinema admissions fall sharply in May
Cinema admissions in the UK could fall to the lowest in eight years if current trends continue. May admissions were down by 19% to 12.7, reflecting an overall drop of 7% since January. May last year saw 15.7 million admissions on the way to a total of 162 million for the year but if the downward trend continues 2008's total would be 151 million.
Marks & Spencer sees sharp sales drop
Predicting "stormy times ahead", High Street retailer Marks & Spencer reported a sharp 5.4% drop in like-for-sales in its UK stores, leading to a fall in profit expectations.
