Cineworld has withdrawn its support for BAFTA over the eligibility of Netflix film Roma for the BAFTA Film Awards.
Cineworld’s plans for a £2.7 billion reverse takeover of the US exhibition chain Regal Entertainment have been attacked as “starry-eyed” by the Financial Times.
“Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them”, “Star Wars: Rogue One” and “The Jungle Book” helped Cineworld sell a record 100 million-plus tickets last year, the cinema operator said in a trading update.
“Fifty Shades of Grey”, “Fast and Furious 7” and “Jurassic World” helped Cineworld Group to report an 11.3% pro forma rise in revenue to £329.1 million for the six months to July 2, 2015.
Cineworld’s total revenue was up 11.2% year-on-year during the 26 weeks to July 2 thanks to the success of blockbusters including “Jurassic World”.
